HSE University’s International Preparatory Programme has awarded diplomas to the class of 2020. International students completed their yearlong intensive studies that included a Russian language course and a variety of subject specific courses. The aim of the preparatory programme is to help international students get ready to enroll in Russian-taught full degree programmes at HSE and other Russian universities

While studying in HSE University’s master’s programmes, students receive an education that is developed with an eye towards specific professional markets, they can pursue research tracks, and they can even design their own individual curricula that incorporate coursework and expertise different programmes. HSE Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin discusses these benefits and others of HSE University’s master’s programmes.

Tu Phan is a second-year student in HSE University’s Master’s programme in Strategic Corporate Finance. She is an international student with a lot of experience living abroad: besides Vietnam, she has lived (and studied) in Azerbaijan, Italy, and now Russia. Tu told us about her studies, how her life has changed since moving to Russia, what life is like in the dorms, and even how Russian and Vietnamese babushkas are similar!

Ulyana Rusetskaya of Belarus is in her first year at the HSE Art and Design School. She entered HSE University by winning the HSE Global Scholarship Competition (GSC) for foreign citizens in the area of design. Ulyana spoke with the HSE News Service about how to prepare a project for the GSC and how the HSE community differs from other university communities. Upon graduating from university, it is not uncommon to find that your professional interests no longer align with your undergraduate area of study. Pursuing an advanced degree that allows you to pursue your real interests is a solution to this problem. At HSE University, we understand this. That is why many HSE Master’s programmes do not require applicants to hold a bachelor’s degree in the programme field.

HSE became the leader of this ranking for the first time, outperforming Moscow State University, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and other Russian universities. Universities were assessed on the basis of three indicators, Quality of Education, Quality of Graduates and the ‘Forbes Factor’.

Sangam Kumar Singh is currently finishing the second year of his Master of Science in Big Data Systems. After spending the first year at HSE Moscow, he has gone to the UK on a double degree track with Lancaster University. Sangam has talked to HSE News Service about his studies, hobbies, research interests, and future plans.
