
Three Years in Orbit: Student Satellite Triples Its Expected Lifespan and Continues to Operate
June 27, 2026, marks three years since the launch of CubeSX-HSE-3, the third research satellite developed by HSE University. Equipped with an AIS system designed for operation in the Arctic, the satellite has completed more than 16,500 orbits of the Earth (covering approximately 720 million kilometres), operated for over 26,000 hours, and transmitted data more than a thousand times. It has captured over 150 images of the Earth, and these figures continue to grow.

HSE & VK Engineering and Mathematics School Showcases 13 Projects at 10th Demo Day
The 10th Demo Day of the Joint HSE & VK Engineering and Mathematics School was held at the VK Moscow office. Students of the three workshops presented the results of 13 projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, information security, and digital platforms. Students worked on the development of recommendation services, systems for psycholinguistic text analysis and speech processing, methods for identifying celebrities in videos, algorithms for determining the toxicity of memes, security mechanisms for AI systems, and approaches to improving the effectiveness of neural network models.

Education in a Changing World: Russian–Chinese Dialogue in Beijing
How are universities, vocational education systems, and researcher training programmes evolving in response to new challenges? These questions were at the heart of the international forum ‘Reconfiguring Education in a Changing World: Russia–China Dialogues on Higher Education, Skills, and Research Training’, held in China in mid-June. The event was jointly organised by the HSE Institute of Education and the Graduate School of Education of Peking University, which hosted the forum on its campus.

From Development to Product: HSE University Opens Applications for Bachelor’s Programme in Innovation Management
On June 20, HSE University begins accepting applications for the new Bachelor's Programme in Technology Innovation Management at the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The programme aims to train specialists capable of managing technology projects at every stage, from testing ideas and validating hypotheses to implementing solutions and bringing products to market.

On June 14, 2026, the first graduating class of the Cognitive Neurobiology educational programme, jointly delivered by HSE University, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech), and the RAS Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology, celebrated their graduation at the HSE Cultural Centre. Twenty-two students received their bachelor’s degrees, becoming multidisciplinary specialists in modern molecular biology, neurophysiology, and cognitive sciences.

HSE Student Looks at Short-Term Education Programmes in Morocco as Instruments of Soft Power
This spring, Taisiya Bakhareva, a student on the Bachelor's International Programme ‘International Relations and Global Studies,’ travelled to Morocco to attend an international conference, where she presented a paper based on her dissertation research. Taisiya and her academic supervisor, Eriks Varpahovskis, spoke to the HSE News Service about how an undergraduate student can successfully present at a genuine academic conference rather than a student-focused event.

HSE University and Unicamp Develop Partnership Projects
At the end of May, HSE University in Moscow received a delegation from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp, Brazil), which has held a strong, long-standing partnership with HSE. The meeting in Moscow took place as part of the International Partner Week, which was held from May 19 to 22 by HSE University–St Petersburg. The event was attended by Unicamp representatives: Rafael Dias, Director of International Affairs, and Milena Serafim, Associate Director of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

How HSE International Relations Students Intern at UN Economic Commission for Africa
This year, third-year students of the International Relations programme Arsenii Armanshin and Arkady Tsvetkov travelled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as part of the Africa Track. They secured internships with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). HSE University at IRES 2026: Student Recruitment, Space Projects, and New Partnerships with India
The second Indo-Russian Education Summit (IRES 2026) took place in New Delhi on May 28–29. This year, the event brought together more than 70 leading Russian and Indian universities. Representatives from HSE University’s Moscow and St Petersburg campuses introduced prospective students to the university’s educational opportunities at the exhibition and shared their experience in developing Russian–Indian academic cooperation.
