HSE University’s Support and Career Centre for International Students and Alumni has held orientation sessions for incoming international students. During the meetings, the centre’s experts explained the visa and migration support available, talked about extracurricular student life, and gave tours of the campus and the city.

HSE Graduate School of Business Joins the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools
The Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) is the first association of business schools in the region to welcome HSE University as a member. The non-profit organisation was established in 2001 and aims to improve the quality of education in business and management in the Asia-Pacific region. For the HSE Graduate School of Business, joining the association is an important part of its international partnership strategy.

Faculty of Computer Science Members Win Prizes in ICPC Challenge Championship
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Challenge took place at the end of August. Unlike the traditional ICPC format, in which teams of three students solve a set of algorithmic tasks, participants of the ICPC Challenge must individually solve an optimisation problem that is relevant to science-driven industry, but which does not have an exact algorithmic solution. In the end, prize places were taken by Mikhail Gustokashin, Director of the Centre of Student Competitions at the HSE University Faculty of Computer Science (FCS), and Dmitry Rempel, student of the faculty.
HSE University Improves Its Position in Three University Missions Ranking
HSE University has risen 17 places in the list of top world universities and remains among the top five Russian universities in the Three University Missions Moscow International University Ranking (MosIUR).

Results of HSE St Petersburg Summer School 2023
In August, the HSE University-St Petersburg Summer School came to an end. The participants attended courses in political science, Russian, and finance given by professors of HSE University-St Petersburg, got to know the city, and saw the sights as part of the cultural programme. The summer school hosted students from nine countries: China, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Germany, Uzbekistan and Russia.

HSE University Hosts ‘Pint-Sized’ Film Festival
On August 21, HSE University’s Cultural Centre hosted the opening of the first ‘Pint-Sized’ student film festival. Over the next week, guests will be able to attend lectures from teachers of the HSE Film Institute and watch works by the festival participants. On August 27, at the closing ceremony, the winners of the Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Directing, and Best Cinematography categories will be announced.

Evolution of Face ID Industry: Insights from Online Programme Master of Computer Vision
The online Master’s programme ‘Master of Computer Vision’ recently held a webinar ‘Face recognition. How does it work and how does it break?‘ as part of its admission campaign, with the participation of the programme’s business partner, Huawei. Participants learned about the basic principles of Face ID algorithms and the features of face recognition technologies relative to other deep learning models, as well as some of the tricks that can mislead artificial intelligence systems.
