Education news at HSE University

Have you ever wanted to apply your academic knowledge in the real world? Or try your hand at a different area of study? Even if you just want to test your skills and knowledge, you can do all of these things at HSE University by engaging in project activities.

In February, a two-day poster session - the second checkpoint of the project life cycle - was held at the HSE MIEM. The participants prepared colorful posters, talked with experts and MIEM students and received well-deserved plaudits. Here, the HSE News Service looks at some student projects.

Viktor Durov, a second-year student of the Master's programme in Digital Humanities and an employee of the Department of Pedagogics and Humanities at Voronezh State Medical University named after N. N. Burdenko, has developed an interactive virtual tour around the Museum of Space Biology and Medicine named after V. V. Antipin in Voronezh.

Floating University is a national project to help students and young scientists immerse themselves in Earth science research and undertake an expedition aboard a research vessel. However, anyone interested in taking part must first go through the training and selection process. For those who dream of going on a scientific voyage, there is a winter school co-organised by HSE University.

On April 8-10, HSE University-St Petersburg will hold the fifth conference 'Model United Nations' (MUN). The event will take place offline in English. Both current and prospective students can participate, but you have to apply until March 1 inclusive. Find out what to expect from the conference and how it will go.

The Glinka State Conservatory in Nizhny Novgorod has held a phonetics competition in Russian as a foreign language for Chinese students of the preparatory department. The spectators, jury members, and support team of the competition included HSE University-Nizhny Novgorod students of the Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages and Intercultural Business Communication, Academic Supervisor of the programme Marianna Korenkova, and Chinese language teacher Elena Ammosova. The Chinese students opened the event with performances of famous solo works in Russian.

Students of the Engineering and Mathematics School (EMS) launched by HSE University and VK in October 2022 held a Demo Day to showcase the first results of their product- and research-based IT projects. Work on the projects has been conducted under the supervision of experts from the university and mentors from VK.

The winners of the autumn 2022 Innovations in Education competition presented their pedagogical insights at a teaching marathon held at the HSE University campus on Pokrovka. They shared their experience of implementing their developments, explaining how innovations help them in their daily work and how they affect the learning process.
